Greens First® Ingredients 101: Barley Grass

Welcome to “Greens First® Ingredients 101”, where we take one component of Greens First® and explain exactly what it is and why we’ve included it in this revolutionary product.

This “Super Green” is considered the most nutritional of the green grasses. Before green grasses undergo the reproductive cycle that creates the grains, they are in this “young” grass stage and contain about the same vitamins and minerals as dark green vegetables!

The Barley Grass Juice Powder in Greens First® is spray dried at very low temperatures from pure organic juice (not milled grass) and it’a green powerhouse! It provides you with a wide spectrum of natural nutrients, as well as chlorophyll and a unique and powerful antioxidant called glycosylisovitexin.

The world’s greatest expert on green barley is Yoshihide Hagiwara, M.D., an associate professor at the department of environmental toxicology at UC Davis. Dr. Hagiwara believes that there may be thousands of active enzymes in green barley, including super oxide dismutase (SOD), a major detoxifying enzyme sometimes recommended in combating arthritis.

Young Barley Grass Juice Powder also contains 13 times as much carotene as that of carrots, 55 times as much Vitamin C as that of apples and 5 times as much iron as that of spinach! Recently, research has unveiled many other possible benefits of green barley leaves. Extracted compounds may have cholesterol lowering effects, anti-inflammatory benefits, and anti-ulcer properties.

Greens First® contains nothing but the very highest quality ingredients, and Barley Grass is no exception!
